It seems the disk space you offer is much less than large companies - why?

Contrary to popular belief, most websites will never require more than a few megabytes of space. While it sounds good to offer 20, 50, 100 gigabytes or even (the marketing ploy of) UNLIMITED space, it is unlikely your site will ever need it. The average WordPress website size clocks in around 1 gigabyte.

While there are exceptions within our client base, Monterey Bay Design is largely boutique hosting - i.e. most of those hosting with us have had us design their website. If you're hosting with Monterey Bay Design, we know your website, your requirements - your first name.

Larger hosting companies  tend to stuff their servers beyond best operating capacity by overselling actual available diskspace. They can do this primarily because most people will never need more than a fraction of what they are paying for. And a downside of stuffing a single shared server with so many hosting accounts is that the end user suffers. A slow-loading website is one of fallout risks of an overstuffed server.
